DuPont™ KVSP®
Description
DuPont™ KVSP® comprises alternate V-rings of DuPont™ Kalrez® perfluoroelastomer (FFKM), and rings of DuPont™Teflon® PTFE or Zymaxx® - a composite of carbon fibre and PFA Teflon® - to form a highly effective three-part or five-part valve packing set for fugitive emission control.
Typical applications
These sets are widely used to minimise fugitive emissions at oil, gas, petrochemical and chemical processing plants. A five-part set can typically reduce valve stem leakage to less than 10ppm.
Specifications
A Kalrez®/Zymaxx® configuration, with addition of a flexible graphite end ring, has passed API 607 3rd Edition Fire Test, and complies with BS6755.
Prime features
- Very low friction when lubricated with DuPont™ Krytox® fluorinated grease as supplied with the sets.
- Kalrez® V-rings energise under axial load to form a highly efficient fluid seal.
- Rigid back-up rings of Teflon® or Zymaxx® limit the extrusion of Kalrez® elements.
Chemical properties
All KVSP® components display outstanding chemical resistance. They are inert to media in the range pH 0-14.

Sets with Teflon® rings: +200°C
Sets with Zymaxx® rings: +260°C, with short excursions to +280°C
Minimum temperature: 0°C
Maximum system pressure: 17MPa

Stand alone packing sets and accurately calibrated live-loading kits, together with full technical support, are csupplied by James Walker as Authorised Distributor of Kalrez® parts in the UK, Ireland and France. Full fitting instructions are included.
